IACT’s Professional Development Courses are designed for the communication industry professionals, and are geared to help them stay ahead of competition or discover new careers. Courses are conducted on weekdays over 3 to 5 months and cover a wide variety of subjects.

Passes in 13 courses will gain credits toward the Diploma in Marketing Communications from International Advertising Association, New York. Diploma holders require only one to one and a half years of study overseas to obtain a degree from Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) University*, Charles Sturt University and University of Canberra in Australia, Auckland University of Technology in New Zealand, Hawaii Pacific University* and Northwood University in USA or University of Hertfordshire/West Herts College in UK.

Advertising Principles - 21 July 2008 (Monday)
A general view of the advertising business, its origins and place in the society, the way it is organised, controlled and how it works in practice.

Duration: 4 months once weekly 7:00-9:30pm

Consumer Behaviour - 21 July 2008 (Monday)
This course introduces participants to the basics of consumer behaviour, which is seen as a vital component in advertising and marketing. It is based on the premise that it is the free choice of the consumer that ultimately determines what shall be produced and marketed.

Duration: 5 months once weekly 7:00-9:30pm

Graphic Design - 21 July 2008 (Monday & Wednesday)
It is now often called visual communication or communication design. Participants will work with print, pictures and patterns on flat surfaces (2-dimensional) and how to use a combination of words and images to design the layout of printed pages of books, magazines and newspapers, advertisements, brochures. Space, colour, lines, shapes and styles/sizes of letters will be used to create and get the message across.
Pre-requisite: Participants who are keen to pursue this course must have knowledge and understanding of basic Computer Graphic Skills.

Marketing Communications I & II (Sales Promotion, Direct Marketing & Public Relations) - 21 July 2008 (Monday & Friday)
The course provides an integrated approach to understanding of Sales Promotion, Direct Marketing and Public Relations and their practical applications in industry.

Duration: 4 months twice weekly 7:00-9:30pm

Marketing Management - 22 July 2008 (Tuesday)
This course concentrates on the basics of marketing and how the resources of an organisation can best match the needs of the market. Analysis, planning and control of the marketing function will be discussed with relevant case studies.

Creative Side:Creative Thinking, Concept Development, Copy, Layout, Design, Production - 22 July 2008 (Tuesday)
This course is to provide participants with knowledge and understanding of Creative and the major role it plays in advertising and communication.
Pre-requisite: Participants who are keen to pursue this course must have knowledge and understanding of basic Advertising Principles

Web Design - 19 August 2008 (Tuesday & Thursday)
This course teaches the most effective manner of creating dynamic and creative websites using web application tools of Macromedia Fireworks, Flash and Dreamweaver.
Pre-requisite: Participants intending to sign-up for this course must have sound knowledge and competency in Computer Graphics (Photoshop, Illustrator)

Duration: 9 weeks twice weekly 7:00 - 9:00pm

Copywriting - 18 August 2008 (Monday & Wednesday)
This course teaches you how to craft memorable slogans, come up with witty headlines, clever taglines and how to win the persuasion game through the art of writing copy. A complete and challenging course geared to develop the copywriting skills of any participant.

Media :Research, Strategy, Planning & Buying - 23 July 2008 (Wednesday)
This course is designed to give a basic understanding of the different options available and the skills required to plan media that are used to deliver advertising messages. The course examines media strategy through the five basic elements of target audience, scheduling, creative considerations, geographic considerations, reach and frequency and the setting of media objectives.

This course teaches you the most effective manner of creating award-winning advertisements by optimising great layouts and technical skills. This is your opportunity to learn real-world production techniques using a variety of the latest softwares.

Marketing & Advertising Research - 24 July 2008 (Thursday)
The aim of this module is to provide students with knowledge and understanding of marketing and advertising research and their applications to marketing and advertising communications. It also aims to provide an insight into the different methods and techniques used to measure the communication effects of advertising and marketing.

Brand Communication Intensive Workshop - 29 & 31 July, 5 & 7 August (4 evening sessions)
This course will help give you a first hand view of what Branding is all about. You will acquire the ability to see the difference between a Brand and a Commodity. The mystique in branding will be removed and participants will emerge with key understanding of why some brands are strong, why others are not and what are the key attributes needed to become a strong Brand.
